What a dingus!
The U.S. is the Saudi Arabia of coal reserves, and we have enormous amounts of gas and oil that Congress has forbidden us from drilling for.
We need every resource, including new one's, not fewer.

I am very much in favor of us leaving our oil resources in the ground (under the sea... whatever) as long as possible.

Some day, when the Arabs, the Russians and the South American dictatorships are running out of oil, the best thing I can imagine is us still having ours.

Let's buy theirs now, and save ours for an even rainier day.

Oh, and let's figure out how to need less and less oil every year, since that is the ultimate goal in this whole resource-limited dilemma. Solar, wind, tidal, conservation, public transit.... c'mon America.... GET WITH IT!

I agree with the basic premise.... coal and oil are problematic. We have to find viable alternatives for them before their over-use ruins our planet and makes it uninhabitable. Thank God a politician has the guts to speak the truth on this topic, as unpopular as that truth is!

The UN is a paper "kitten," mewling and pathetic at best and strident and pathetic at worst which is more common. It can do nothing by whine and moan.

The UN is reliant on troops from signatory nations to enforce any of its whims, and national leaders are loath to commit their resources and people to causes that do not directly benefit their own people.

Couple the above with the horrendous levels of hypocrisy and corruption exhibited by the UN and you get a mostly useless political entity, though it does perform manage to perform some useful humanitarian acts and programs.

Who'd have thought that McCain would have to DEFEND his military service, after sell-outs like Wesley Clark diminish McCain's history. Serving in the military and doing time at the "Hanoi Hilton" may not by itself, qualify you to be president, but it's a lot more than Obama has to offer.

p.s. Wesley Clark has the same first name as the spineless jellyfish character, Wesley Mouch, in Ayn Rand's classic, "Atlas Shrugged." Coincidence? I think not...

All the media buzz which will surround Palin -- essentially free to McCain -- will be worth millions and millions of dollars of PR (more money than Romney could provide anyway).

It appears that it’s all down to Palin or Romney, and team Romney fears Palin now has the best shot, so Romney camp is mounting a blogosphere-wide assault via Politico.

The tip-off that Politico is just a “promote Romney” piece is that it mentions EVERY NAME in the next two tiers of Veep prospects EXCEPT SARAH PALIN!!! — even names far more unlikely than Palin (since Romney camp knows Palin is the ONLY ONE who tops — I’ll say tops by far — Romney as McCain’s best pick).

Bottom line, Romney and Politico fear Palin most — as do the Dems and the MSM. (By the way, the Dems and MSM do not fear Romney the most — which says a lot.)

AOL, prime on-line pro-Obama/pro-Dem player, is now carrying the Politico piece promoting Romney buzz.

Clearly AOL wants McCain and the GOP to lose the general elction — hence they gladly promote Romney (no mention of Palin).

Also, CNN had Romney — kind of out of the blue — attacking Obama. Again, CNN, wanting McCain and the GOP to lose, gladly promotes Romney (to attempt to avert the Palin threat).
